Welcome to Winding River

Welcome to the Winding River Land Conservancy. Since 1998, WRLC has worked to preserve lands that make our region such a wonderful place to live, work and play. Winding River Land Conservancy has worked directly with families, nonprofit groups and local municipalities to provide permanent protection for land. WRLC’s work has included development of agricultural protection restriction for agriculture land and conservation restrictions for nonagricultural land. We have worked with families, nonprofit groups and local communities to help them receive funding for land preservation. Some of the protected lands allow public access.

Our successes couldn’t have occurred without the vision and commitment of landowners, the support of local and state preservation programs and generous donors. There are many opportunities for you to support WRLC and work to preserve land that is important to you and our region.

To further our conservation efforts, in January 2017 the small, all-volunteer board/staff of  Winding River made the decision to join with the Franklin Land Trust. This joint collaboration will allow WRLC to respond more efficiently to land conservation requests, have annual monitoring visits on all of our conservation restrictions, and keep our friends and members up-to-date about our latest projects and programs. We hope that you, our friends and supporters, are as excited as we are about this new direction for land conservation in our region.
